I watch this scene and wonder how anyone can say Willie is bad for Alex or that he meant any harm at some point? This scene lays out all Willie’s intentions crystal clear, the boy wants nothing more than make Alex feels better all the time. He has so much patience and gentleness in him that Alex needs. Willie gives him that without Alex asking, Willie gets him and shows it. There’s no judgment there, only giggles and love. When Willie gets the vibes that Alex is feeling bad about something, like the way he died, that he can’t move things, his anxiety, what Willie does is search for ways to help. For the first one, he told him that a really famous person died the same way and it made Alex smile and feel comforted. For the second, he giggled and was like “Hey, trust me and don’t worry, I got you and I’m gonna walk you through it, here give me your hand and I’m gonna rest my other one on your back for support.” The result gives Alex confidence and makes him happy. For the third, he listened carefully and shared what makes him feel better, maybe he didn’t open up fully but there’s a sense of vulnerability in what he confessed and what it implies, it ends with Alex feeling better and with a new outlet for his emotions. (You can’t tell me in the future, Alex wont approach Willie to ask if he could take him to a museum and Willie will immediately get that there’s something wrong and that Alex wants to talk and scream.) Let us talk about them at the ghost club real quick, lets talk about Willie spending his time making sure Alex is okay and comfortable, always turning back to him, soothing his anxiety with a smile and even touch because he realized from earlier that day that his touch is a calming or helpful effect on Alex. Willie is an angel that did one big mistake that came from good intentions. A mistake he tried to atone by putting himself in high risk situations. Willie would do anything for love, it’s an instinct for him and maybe also at some point he never got to feel it so when he finally got it, he swore he would do anything for it and every word and gesture for the love will be meant.
