I’m realizing just how fucked up it is and damaging it must be for kids to see their comfort character, from a CHILDREN’S tv show, shitted on by grown ass adults in the name of clout

Like imagine being 10-12 years old and starting to go into fandom and your favorite character is Catra or Hordak, and you go online only to see people say “if you like Catra you’re an abuse apologist/if you like Hordak you’re a nazi/colonizer/fascist apologist”.

That’s Awful.

That’s gonna destroy a kid who sees themselves in those two and relates to them but maybe can’t explain why.

Maybe they’re having their first gay crush on Catra and relate to her feelings of loneliness or thought it was awesome to see Hordak overthrow Prime and embrace his individuality, as I did with Darth Vader as a kid.

They should’nt be made to feel like shit for liking characters that were designed and developed to be related to. Especially by adults who aren’t even in the show’s age bracket.

I’m not saying you can’t criticize the show or whatever, but you forcing labels and bad faith onto others because they like a villain is probably going to be more damaging to their growth and view of the world then you thinking them liking a villain is.
