Lion 3 is still one of my favorite episodes in the entire series, including SUF. It’s so sweet and tender and despite all the shit Steven had to go through because Rose wasn’t there, I think he was much better off having seen the tape, knowing that his mother loved him deeply, that she knew what was going to happen to her and that she had no regrets about it. I think he would have fallen apart a lot sooner without that.

And besides that, I just really love the overall atmosphere of the episode. As much as I love the background music throughout the series, I do miss the quiet moments in the earlier episodes. The silence really made the music stand out, have it a greater impact. Hearing Rose’s theme like that is such a nostalgic experience.

Oh, and Lion being a cat will never not be funny. And Pearl watching Steven sleep.
